    Just seen this on Twitter

Salford Red Devils are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of club and Rugby League legend Chris Hesketh.

For those not old enough. Chris was a class centre of the 1970's and was GB Captain on the 1974 Tour to Australia and New Zealand.

Chris was one of the Wigan lads who attended West Park, where he was in the same year group as myself. He played RU and was coached by our PE teacher Joe Coan.It is remarkable that Chris had made a recovery from polio as a child and went on to win the World Cup in 1972 and Captain GB on tour Downunder in 1974.

Really sorry to hear the news about Chris. I was in the same year at West Park with Chris and played on the same team as Chris for 5 years, going unbeaten in that time. We had a brilliant scrum half in Ray Vass and 2 flying wingers.
Chris was an outstanding player and a great lad. Unlike me, he was squeaky clean at school and never got into any trouble.
Sad loss indeed to all who knew him.
